    Fun for toddlers

    by

A great addition to our toddler’s room - she loves it! Don’t let the reviews about it being tricky to set and operate put you off - I looked at the instructions once and find it reasonably straightforward.

Great features - when experienced to their fullest

    by

We’ve used this for about a month now for our 3.5 year old twins who are now able to communicate and be persuaded and reasoned with (at times) and I’m leaving a review with some things I wish I knew before or in the troublesome moments: Pros: - the kids know when it’s close to wake up time and so most of the time they don’t cry as they see it’s yellow and it’s close to wake time - very cute and fits with lots of sheep storybooks for bed time Cons: - controls can be fiddly. The symbols on it aren’t exactly straightforward. Simple, but when you’re in the heat of a late bedtime with two babies screaming “what’s wrong with sheepy?” because they have to go to bed early due to an early wake, bringing up the manual on your phone to navigate the buttons can feel fairly stressful - the nap timer cannot be automatically set to a time (unlike the long night sleep bed time), it can only be manually (which make sense for growing kids who have multiple sleeps throughout a day) - this has only happened once, but it set off a stressful chain of events (described above), when moving it to adjust he bed time (due to an early bed time) it randomly reset itself (despite having fresh back up batteries in it). That’s a surprising little glitch I hope is a one off rather than a regular feature. - after resetting it, and setting the actual time, the bed time and the wake up time again the sheep stays green and very awake. It will stay this way despite it being past its bedtime according to its own settings. It will stay this way despite you trying the manual override by holding down sheep’s eyes for the stated 3 seconds, desperately awaiting the flashes to signal it has understood the prompt. It will stay this way after a hard reset (removing all the batteries, waiting ten seconds, and doing it all again). But then if you leave it for a couple of minutes - voila! It will suddenly pick up on its programming and shut its eyes and the screen will turn red. Look, it’s great once you work out all the kinks (I thought I’d covered them all reading the various reviews out there). Maybe I missed these fun little extra features, and maybe they haven’t yet been discovered or shared. Would I still recommend this? Yes, but hopefully this helps you figure out the different ways to troubleshoot in the craze of bedtimes gone wrong, with the added pressure of the beloved sheepy not being a user-friendly product without he manual, a screwdriver and some bouts of patience

Perfect solution to a common parenting challenge

    by

I found this product useful and it met its purpose. Like any new thing, you need to learn how to operate it and the instructions are very helpful. We didn't find Sam difficult to operate once we read the instructions, and we liked it's novel design. Also, the company that produced Sam the clock was fantastic with its customer service when Sam stopped working and sent a replacement charging cord for free and Sam worked well for many years and for multiple children.

    Do not buy this product

    by

Do not buy this product. My 2.5yo figured out how to use the manual override which means it turns red and green whenever he likes. He also turned the alarm on in the middle of the night..The other sleep trainer clocks where manual override requires pressing 2 buttons at the same time are much better.

    Great tool for sleep expectations

This clock has made the transition from cot to bed much easier. The three colours are easy to identify, explain and recognise (and set up). My son loves his “Sam the Lamb”

Needs better design modifications as not wow!

    by

Poor operations for set up, wish the operations where buttons on the back you can easily use and set up SAM. Sometimes he won't go red when it's programmed for bedtime and is orange, when his eyes open they make a sound. I think this product needs better development as it could be wonderful just the operations are terrible. Also cable is terrible for charging that could be better located and easier to access to.

Very cute but constantly changes time and doesnt work properly. We have reset the sleep trainer too many times for it not to work and be green all night. Annoying but our girls like to look at them, so an expensive ornament at best.

    ZAZU SLEEP TRAINER

Good product! Like that there are a lot of options and the light brightness can be adjusted. Also like the traffic lights system for lights. Out 2.5 yeat old took to it straight away

    Wouldn’t buy again

    by

Tricky to navigate the setup. Instructions weren’t clear and most weren’t in English. The kids seemed to be able to overwrite it easily by playing with the opening and closing eyes. Battery goes flat very quickly rather than having a cord/cable so once I replaced the batteries a few times it now sits unused in the cupboard.

    Our new best friend

    by

We hesitated on this one because of the price, but Sam the Sheep is worth his weight in gold. We have gone from our 3.5 year old wanting to get up at the crack of dawn as the spring sun came up, to sleeping beautifully until ‘sheepie’ wakes up. Some reviews note that he is difficult to set up - we didn’t find this, and while he doesn’t come with an instruction booklet, you can find them online if needed. Love our Sam, thanks for giving us our sleep-ins back!

Green yellow and red light plus fully dark

    by

The green yellow and red lights are great. Plus it goes fully dark. Only snag weve hit is that the eyes make a pop sound opening. So it wakes little one (2.5yr) up and they toddle to us. Still really love it.

It works with sleep, but it’s frustrating to use

    by

We got this sheep to help our 4yo know when he can get out of the bed in the morning and also not get his younger brother up either. It has worked very well in that respect as he waits until the sheep wakes up before coming out of his room. However it is an absolute pain to set up. The cable to keep the power in is horrible and falls out at the slightest touch. Make sure you have the batteries in or all the settings you’ve just spent forever creating will be lost as soon as the cable comes out. The batteries also don’t last long if you don’t realise the cable has come out ever so slightly and it’s using batteries instead.
